NEU’s Stars Shone at "Academy Awards Night"

"Necmettin Erbakan University Academy Awards" program was organized in order to reward and encourage our successful academicians at our university. In the event, while plaques and awards were given to academicians who were successful in the categories of NEVA Incentive Awards, NEU's Stars, and NEU's Young Stars, academicians who have received the title of professor in the last three years were presented with their certificates.

Governor of Konya Vahdettin Özkan, AK Party General Vice President Leyla Şahin Usta, AK Party Konya Deputies Prof. Dr. Hacı Ahmet Özdemir and Ahmet Sorgun, Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, our Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Zorlu, Konya Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Babür Özçelik, Konya Food and Agriculture University Rector Prof. Dr. Cumhur Çökmüş, AK Party Konya Provincial President Hasan Angı, Konya Plain Project Regional Development Administration President Mahmut Sami Şahin, our university’s administrators, academicians, and guests attended the program which took place at Nezahat Keleşoğlu Conference Hall at the Ahmet Keleşoğlu Campus of our university.

Speaking first at the event, Vice Rector of our university Prof. Dr. Muhiddin Okumuşlar stated that our university has prepared the necessary ground for scientific studies and that our academicians have put forth valuable scientific studies by making great efforts.

"We dreamed of being a distinguished institution that produces high added value for humanity," said our Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Zorlu, “We dreamed of becoming an innovative and dynamic state university with high brand value first in our country and then in the world in a way that is worthy of the visionary of the late Necmettin Erbakan, whose name we are honoured to bear. Staff honoured to be a member of Necmettin Erbakan University, a student honoured to be a member of Necmettin Erbakan University, a graduate proud to be a member of Necmettin Erbakan University, proudly carrying its emblem on his/her chest, institutions that are content and happy to cooperate with Necmettin Erbakan University... We walked with the ideal of enabling all our stakeholders to enjoy the privilege of being a stakeholder of Necmettin Erbakan University. Although most of it has passed in the shadow of the pandemic, in the last three years, I think we have come a long way for Necmettin Erbakan University. The point we have reached today, namely our facts, is the most concrete indicator of this.”

“We Conduct Our Studies with the Purpose of Always Having an Exceptional Position in the Science Race”
Noting that an action plan has been created by examining the best examples in Turkey and the world since he took up the position, our Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Zorlu said, “We acted with a management mentality that makes the collective mind dominant and prioritizes performance. We paved the way with our decisions and practices that revealed our potential. One of the most important pillars of the action plan we created was undoubtedly the issue of academic performance. In this respect, we have carried out studies that will raise our university to the top. I am immensely pleased that the studies we conduct with the aim of always being at the forefront and always in an exceptional position in the science race are bearing fruit. I would like to thank all of our professors, especially our valuable professors in the hall, who have contributed to the scientific development of our country.”

“With the Academy Awards ceremony, while encouraging our academicians, we actually create a climate of competition and a culture of success,” said our Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Zorlu and continued his words as follows: “I would like to particularly thank the Board of Trustees of Necmettin Erbakan University Development Foundation NEVA for their contributions to this climate and culture. In this sense, our Foundation, which was established with the goal of a strong civil society that will materially and morally support the human capital which will build our future, fulfils a pioneering mission in the academic development of our university. Ingenuity is subject to compliment... I sincerely congratulate all our professors who have won awards within the scope of Necmettin Erbakan University Academy Awards 2020. I congratulate them for their contributions to science and the academic performance of our University at the highest level, their outstanding achievements and efforts, and wish them continued success.”

“Konya is Again One of the Most Important Cities of Education, as It was in the Past.”
Highlighting that as Konya Metropolitan Municipality, they are one of the organizations that are proud of being a stakeholder institution with our University, Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay said, “With the Capsule Technology Platform and Social Innovation Agency, we are carrying out works that set an example for Turkey. I would like to particularly thank our professors working on this issue, and we are together making an effort to open up a new horizon for our young people. Konya has been a city of wisdom since the past. The madrasahs built by our ancestors 800 years ago still stand as a sign and every time we pass by, they stand in front of us as an indicator of how deep-rooted science is in this land. We are doing very important works with our 5 universities that are situated in Konya. With its 130 thousand students and academicians, Konya is again one of the most important cities of education. I hope this well-thought-out program will bring benefits as a new beginning, and I would like to thank those who have contributed.”

“Our Domestic Vaccine TURKOVAC Will Hopefully Become a Source of Healing for All Humanity in a Short Time”
Congratulating the award-winning academicians, AK Party General Vice President Leyla Şahin Usta noted that at the ceremony, it is impossible to pass remarks without commemorating the late Prime Minister Necmettin Erbakan. Usta continued her words as follows: “As Turkey, we produced our own respirator in a short time and made it available for the benefit of humanity. We got the emergency use approval for our domestic vaccine TURKOVAC and started mass production. Hopefully, our vaccine will be a source of healing for all humanity in a short time. We are walking with the legacy that Necmettin Erbakan left us. His goal was to realize the ideals of a liveable Turkey, a great Turkey again, and a new world. He acted with this understanding. Professor Erbakan worked throughout his political and social life with the belief that a just world would be established under the leadership of Turkey. He became the pioneer of the heavy industry move in Turkey. Professor Erbakan was a role model with his faith and determination in science and Turkey. On this occasion, we commemorate him once again with mercy and gratitude.”

“In order to Have a Voice in the World, We Must Increase our Global Competitiveness”
Emphasizing that the shaping of history, culture, and civilization is possible through science and knowledge, Konya Governor Vahdettin Özkan said, “The touches that the universities in Konya, together with institutions and organizations in the public and private sectors, have added to the areas of the city that are open to improvement are of particular importance for us. When we look at the past of our civilization, we see that the world has taken our civilization as an example. Today, in the same way, we need to increase our global competitiveness in scientific studies and in many fields in order to have a say in the world. I would like to congratulate NEU Rector Prof. Dr. Cem Zorlu and his team, who have added strength to our global competitiveness with such a program and the scientific studies they have conducted.”

After the speeches, the programme continued with the award ceremony.

Within the scope of NEVA Incentive Awards, Prof. Dr. Sevgi Keleş became the researcher who did the most publication with international cooperation. The governor of Konya, Vahdettin Özkan presented her award to Prof. Dr. Sevgi Keleş.

While Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Yavuz became the researcher who did the most publication with international cooperation in the field of Science/Engineering, AK Party Vice President, Deputy of Konya Dr. Leyla Şahin Usta presented his award to him.

When it comes to the field of Social Sciences, Res. Asst. Bilgesu Kaçan became the researcher who did the most publication with international cooperation. Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay presented Kaçan’s award to her.

To the award-winning academics in the category of NEVA Incentive Awards, in addition to the plaque, a Gremse gold award was given with the contributions of Development Foundation of Necmettin Erbakan University NEVA.

In the field of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Sevgi Keleş, Dr. Vesile Koçak, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gamze Sarkılar, Prof. Dr. Alper Yosunkaya, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özge Metin Akcan, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Funda Gök took part in the category of NEÜ’s Stars, in the list of most influential researchers. The plaques of the academics who received awards in this category were presented by Deputy of Konya Ahmet Sorgun.

In the field of Science/Engineering, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Yavuz, Dr. Emrah Madenci, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lokman Gemi, and Dr. Şaban Gülcü took part in the category of NEÜ’s Stars, in the list of most influential researchers. The plaques of the academics who received awards in this category were presented by Konya Deputy Prof. Dr. Hacı Ahmet Özdemir.

On the other hand, in the field of Social Sciences, Dr. Abdulkadir Haktanır, Dr. Mehmet Ergün Hatır, Prof. Dr. Dicle Aydın, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sarıtepeci took part in the category of NEÜ’s Stars, in the list of most influential researchers. The plaques of the academics who received awards in this category were presented by the Rector of Konya Technical University Prof. Dr. Babür Özçelik.

Turning to NEÜ’s young stars category, Lect. Zeynep Saçıkara, Lect. Kübra Sultan Dengiz, Res. Asst. Ayşe Seda Eren, Res. Asst. Recep Evcen became the most influential young researchers in the field of Health Sciences. The plaques of the academics who received awards in this category were presented by the Rector of Konya Food and Agriculture University Prof. Dr. Cumhur Çökmüş.

Res. Asst. Dr. Yasin Onuralp Özkılıç, Res. Asst. Dr. Ömer Kazak, Res. Asst. Dr. Gamze Üçok ve Lect. Zehra Karhan became the most influential young researchers in the field of Science/Engineering in the category of NEÜ’s young stars. The plaques of the academics who received awards in this category were presented by the Vice Rector of NEÜ Prof. Dr. Oğuz Doğan.

Res. Asst. Dr. Tolga Seki, Res. Asst. Dr. İrfan Erdoğan, Res. Asst. Bilgesu Kaçan took part in the list of the most influential young researchers in the field of Social Sciences in the category of NEÜ’s young stars. The plaques of the academics who received awards in this category were presented by the Vice Rector of NEÜ Prof. Dr. Zekeriya Mızırak.

After the awards and plaques were given to the academics who were successful in their fields, the academics who received the title of professor in the last three years were presented with their academic promotion by the Rector of NEÜ Prof. Dr. Cem Zorlu.
